1. What Health Journal is — and isn't
Health Journal is a platform for recording, organising, and reflecting on your own health information. It helps you track conditions, symptoms, treatments, and how you respond to them over time — across both conventional and complementary or alternative medicine (CAM).
Health Journal is not a healthcare provider, is not a substitute for professional medical care, and does not practise medicine. We do not diagnose, prescribe, or recommend treatment. Nothing in the platform should be read as a personalised medical recommendation for you.
2. Emergencies and urgent care
Health Journal is not a monitoring service and is not designed for use in an emergency. Entries are not routinely reviewed by a doctor, nurse, healthcare professional, or Health Journal employee. Adding information to Health Journal does not notify a healthcare professional or emergency service.
- For a medical emergency, call your local emergency services number or go to your nearest emergency department.
- For urgent but non-emergency concerns, contact your doctor or an urgent care service.
Do not rely on Health Journal, or any feature within it, to identify, monitor, or respond to an emergency.
3. Self-reported data
The information in your Health Journal record is entered by you, or by someone managing a record on your behalf. We do not verify its clinical accuracy, and we do not check it against medical records held by any healthcare provider. The value of the platform depends on the accuracy of what you choose to record — but the record itself is not a clinical document and has not been reviewed by a healthcare professional.
4. Complementary and alternative medicine (CAM)
Health Journal allows you to record complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) approaches alongside conventional treatments so that your record reflects the full range of health-related activities you choose to undertake.
This is a record-keeping design choice, not a clinical endorsement. Inclusion of a treatment or therapy in Health Journal, and any severity, effectiveness, or tolerability score attached to it, does not mean that Health Journal, I Own My Health Ltd, or any Health Journal member has verified, endorsed, or recommended it. Inclusion does not indicate that a treatment has been clinically validated, approved by a regulator, or shown to be safe or effective.
5. Community Insights
Community Insights shows aggregated effectiveness and tolerability ratings (scored 1–10) submitted by other Health Journal members, alongside the sample size behind each figure.
These figures are self-reported, unverified, and not the product of clinical research, controlled trials, or medical review. They reflect the subjective experiences of other members, not proof that a treatment works, is safe, or is right for you. Results may be affected by small or unrepresentative samples, differences between members, other treatments being used at the same time, and incomplete or inaccurate reporting.
Used well, Community Insights can be a useful starting point for a more informed conversation with your healthcare professional — a way of bringing real-world, lived experience into that discussion. It is not a substitute for their advice, and should not be used as the basis for a treatment decision on its own.
6. Export for use with external AI services
Health Journal allows you to prepare an export of selected information from your record in a format designed for use with external AI services. Health Journal does not analyse the export, generate medical conclusions from it, or control the responses produced by an external AI service.
Any output you receive is generated by the external provider and may be incomplete, inaccurate, misleading, or out of date. It is not medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment and should not be used as the sole basis for a health or treatment decision. Verify important information and discuss health decisions with a qualified healthcare professional.
The export is designed to reduce the inclusion of directly identifying information, but this does not guarantee that the information is anonymous. Health information may remain identifiable from its content or when combined with other information.
Before providing an export to an external AI service, review it and remove any information you do not wish to share. You should also review the external provider's terms of use and privacy policy. Once you provide an export to an external service, its processing, storage, retention, output, and data-handling practices are outside Health Journal's control.
7. Your responsibility
You are responsible for the decisions you make about your own health. Health Journal is a tool to help you organise information and reflect on it — it does not replace the judgement of a qualified healthcare professional who can examine you, take your full history, and consider your individual circumstances.
- Always consult a doctor or other qualified healthcare professional before starting, stopping, changing, or altering the dose of any medication or treatment.
- Never disregard professional medical advice, or delay seeking it, because of something recorded in or shown by Health Journal.
- If you are unsure whether a symptom needs urgent attention, contact your doctor, an urgent care service, or emergency services.
8. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, I Own My Health Ltd is not responsible for loss or harm resulting from treating Health Journal content, Community Insights, or output from an external AI service as medical advice; failing to seek appropriate professional care; or entering inaccurate or incomplete information. Nothing in this disclaimer excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence.
9. Changes to this disclaimer
We may update this disclaimer from time to time. The version number and effective date above will always reflect the current version. This disclaimer should be read alongside our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service, available at healthjournal.app.
